What would be a good monitor for gaming/watching movies?

I was looking at a monitor and it was real big (28") and it had fast response time and high contrast but there were a lot of bad reviews on it saying that it had bad picture quality. That proves wrong everything that I knew about monitors. It sounds like 22" has the best picture but I want something bigger than my 22".
